JFK and other preoccupations

Today I was musing on the assassination of JFk. Did Oswald act alone? I used to be a die-hard conspiracy theorist, but lately I don't know. An idea came to me today, while I was thinking about the book, "Mrs. Paine's Garage". Oswald seemed not to have much cash, which answered one query of mine, namely:why didn't he use an M1 like he trained on in the marines? If he really was a small part of a big op, why would they give him such a lousy rifle? Even if he was not intended to kill JFK, why give him such a poor tool for a very important role?

Second, has anyone else ever thought that maybe he really intended to scare JFK in some crackpot scheme to get him to back off of Cuba? My theory is this: Oswald did indeed fire at least three shots, possibly more. Unknown to him, [or anybody else] another gunman was there in the plaza. My guess would be in the storm sewer, armed with a .45 caliber pistol. I saw a photo in a website some time ago taken from inside this sewer and it would seem to offer almost perfect cover.

Could it be that some merc or ex-agency type with an axe to grind also decided to send JFK a message? Possibly someone very angry about the whole Bay of Pigs disaster and/or the disruption of Mongoose? Could it really have been nothing more than a violent tragic convergence of an insignificant loner and a real killer, one who was using a handgun, as was the case in every successful assassination or attempt except this one? I know I will be roasted for this, but if anyone is willing to think about it before reacting, is my idea really any more bizarre than ice bullets, a vengeful lover of Jackie's in the motorcade with an M-16, poison paralysing darts fired from the red umbrella man to keep JFK from ducking to avoid being shot, or any of the dozens of other theories?

I would really like to hear back about this if YOU'RE SERIOUS. If you're just going to retreat behind some ideology of any kind, look for another page! I want a serious discourse here, not insults and threats from anonymous readers. I'm open to new ideas about this.
